Backup Your Segmented Personas

Things to note

This week I will be in San Francisco for HashiCorp's annual HashiConf conference. I am looking forward to seeing what HashiCorp’s customers and partners are thinking about the license change to BSL after a couple of months of getting used to it. I'll also be looking to see how OpenTofu is perceived and if it aligns with my thinking.

Data protection company Veeam has started offering a first-party Backup-as-a-Service options for the first time. It’s a bit of a departure from Veeam’s historic preference for being channel-only, and I’ll have more to say about it in coming days/weeks. Veeam also invested in startup Alcion’s Backup-as-a-Service that was recently announced, but don’t read too much into making multiple bets. There are ways these could be complementary.

The Register let me have opinions in public about what will happen when Broadcom finalises its VMware acquisition in a few weeks. I have made the obvious error of making testable predictions rather than vague pronouncements. Shouldn’t be long until we find out if I’m right or if I have to find a full-time gig as a pundit on Fox Business.
