Season of Giving

Things to note

Friend of PivotNine, GestaltIT, has been acquired by the Futurum Group. I've known Stephen Foskett for many years and this is a great deal for both companies. GestaltIT joins The CTO Advisor (founded by my friend Keith Townsend) and LuccaZara (founded by my friend Lisa Martin) in a flurry of acquisitions in recent months.

VMware is ending perpetual licenses to move to subscription-only, and more bundling. Some partners seem happy with the changes but details are scant. Switching away is more about the operational costs of maintaining a non-VMware solution, so keep that firmly in mind as you evaluate the situation.

HashiCorp co-founder Mitchell Hashimoto is leaving the company. Hashimoto had already stepped back significantly from the day-to-day operations of the company, so this is a graceful exit. It's probably good for HashiCorp as well as the company moves in new directions. A lingering founder can undermine the authority of new leadership.
