KubeCon and Funding Open Source

KubeCon EU was last week and it was a big and busy conference. Over 12,000 attendees, according to the CNCF, which makes it the biggest KubeCon in the world. The general feeling from attendees and vendors I spoke with is that Europe is where the most interesting open source things are happening.

I wrote about open source being more grown up about things like governance and funding. Not everywhere, and not completely, but it's progress.

Projects like FluxCD are figuring out how to be less dependent on any one company after the collapse of Weaveworks. I had a long chat with core maintainer Stefan Prodan and found him to have a refreshingly sophisticated and mature approach.
