Breaches, Earthquakes and FUD

Things to note

The OpenTofu project responded to HashiCorp’s claims that it had copied proprietary BSL licensed code. This looks like another footgun incident from HashiCorp rather than a successful fear, uncertainty and doubt tactic. OpenTofu called the detailed response a Source Code Origin (SCO) document, which looks deliberate.

Relatedly, The Register reckons the Linux Foundation is moving from a neutral stance to active support. Chris Aniszczyk accuses vendors of "rug pulling" with their license changes so it seems the CNCF isn’t content to sit on the sidelines here.

There’s also a new podcast series called IT Ops Query, by Tech Target’s Beth Pariseau, which is covering open source, funding, and sustainability. There are some… interesting… perspectives so far. I spoke to Beth a little while ago, probably for this podcast, so I might show up in a later episode.
