Co-opting Disruption

Things to note

I opined about What To Do About VMware with Ned Bellavance and Ethan Banks on the Day Two Cloud podcast. Broadcom are squeezing the cash cow so the milk comes out faster, essentially. If you're not a top global account, I'd be looking hard at moving to something else.

I wrote about new startup Highway 9 and its attempt to make enterprise mobile cloud a thing. A SaaS-controlled private 5G ISP, essentially. Their pitch is too complex and needs some refining, but it's early so it should get better.

There was a spam wave on Mastodon recently, coordinated via Discord which has no functional mechanism for dealing with this stuff, apparently. Mastodon admins acted quickly to stamp out the spam, and the software already has a new version out with a feature to make this kind of things harder in future. The spam was teenagers having beef in their forum. It was amusing to watch people rediscover stuff like SpamAssassin, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and interpersonal BBS drama.
